It makes perfect sense to prop open a door using an iron doorstop fashioned to resemble a key.
Normally keys or claves are used to unlock and lock doors. But a large version of an antique clave, standing up on a wedge of iron, makes for a charming doorstop that reminds us all of what a door is. The top of the decorative key forms an exquisite fleur de lis of black iron that rests gracefully on a metal rod. The big key has an old fashioned looking rectangular works on the bottom designed after the antique keys of bygone centuries. The whole thing is attached to an iron wedge that is jammed under doors. There are a lot of doors that need to remain open. The challenge then becomes finding an object that can do the job without looking like a big ugly rock or block of splintering wood.
