Oriental art first became popularized outside of China and Japan during the great design periods of France in the 17th century. It was known as chinoiserie, and all things from the Far East were in favour.
Today, the popularity of such objets d' art has not diminished, and we can find beautiful home furnishings and accessories with the meticulously hand crafted look from centuries ago. The Spring Birds Lamp has an exquisite design inspired by two of the most popular oriental motifs. For the Chinese, the bird is the symbol of happiness, luck, and abundance, and in Japan, the cherry blossom symbolizes the fragility and beauty of life. • Magnificent stylized birds in pink and blue and yellow rest happily on cherry blossom branches, all of which have a hand painted appearance. • A soft blue background looks like an artisan glaze. • The tall ginger jar shape sits on a simple round base, and the white bell shaped shade is finished with flat band trim.
