It's safe to say that in the early days of Louis XIV, when the craft of glassmaking first received important recognition, glass was never put to the utilitarian purposes for which metals and ceramics were used. It served chiefly as ornament, but the early 19th century brought some new ideas to the world of glassmaking.
Today we use glass for all sorts of applications, and our fine looking Glass Twist Vase is a beautiful replica of those glass ornaments of the 19th century. At nearly one foot in height, it makes a wonderful statement on its own and is as utilitarian as we'd expect any vase to be.
The heavy Venetian style bottom has the look of leaded glass, and the twist design has the appearance of hand blown glass or fine crystal. This is a piece that will work very well with your better glassware in gifts, wedding, and home accessories.
